The Bakugan Battle Brawlers CCG is a relative newcomer to the gaming scene. Released in 2007 in conjunction with the cartoon, the game was one of the hottest Christmas items of '08. Toys R Us has recently begun holding nation wide tournaments to capitalize on its recent popularity. Software gaming giant Activison has recently signed on to make a Bakugan video game for all the major gaming systems to be released in Spring of 2009. And Universal Pictures has joined with Spin Masters to make a feature length Bakugan movie. The second season of the Bakugan Anime "New Vestroia" is airing soon, and a whole new lineup of series 2 Bakugan toys has been released in March.
Series 2 Bakugan
One of the biggest complaints about the first edition of the Bakugan game was that the rules were rather vague. Likely this was to make the game simple and easily understood, but there was a lot of room for personal interpretation. Most kids just made up their own rules to fill in the gaps. The new series 2 Bakugan toys offer clearer rules and add more levels of strategy to the game.
New elements are being added to the gameplay as well. Trap Bakugan have been added that are thrown down to reveal an attribute change or G power boost. Also an element of randomness has been included with Spin Bakugan and the Dual sided Bakugan where multiple G Powers are printed on one ball and randomly revealed when the ball pops open.
In addition to this, the series 2 Bakugan have higher G Power levels than the earlier ones, and more detailed and complicated shapes. There are even some of the 6 legendary bakugan to be found if you are really lucky!
The Bakugan game continues to evolve and expand as it gets more exposure. The Spin Master corporation is doing a decent job promoting their product internationally and making sure it stays interesting. All in all, it's a pretty appealing game with layers of strategy, fast and furious play, collectible cards, transforming spheres, and magnets!
