Learn How To Play Bakugan Games

How to play bakuganAre all your friends playing Bakugan and you want to learn how? Are you a confused parent that’s tired of being out of the Bakugan loop? Here is a little Bakugan-for-dummies on how to play.

The minimum is 2 players and you can have up to 4 at one time. But it's necessary to slightly adjust the rules if you are going to play multiplayer Bakugan games. We'll get into that later.

The first thing each player needs to do before the game begins is pick a minimum deck of three Bakugan Balls. Next you need 3 Bakugan Ability cards that will be used during the game and 3 Bakugan Gate cards, each need to be a different attribute. You could use more brawlers and cards but they need to be the same amount. So if you want to use 5 brawlers you would need 5 cards to match it.

The game Begins with all Brawlers closed up which is called “Sphere Mode”. According to the official rules, the youngest player gets to go first. So if you are playing with your little brother, he's always going to get the first shot. Once the Brawler is correctly rolled onto the metal card, it will pop open into “Battle Mode”. Once this happens you will be able to see it’s G-power rating. The battle is on once the other player rolls onto the same card that you are on. On the card the G-power boost will determine if your Battle Brawler’s G-power decreases or increases. Each player has a chance to play an ability card to modify the final outcome, these cards can make or break your game. The player with the highest G-power rating wins.

Overview Of Bakugan Cards:

Ability cards: This card contains instructions on the bottom with different commands that show what you have to do. They can have some devastating combos if you use a little strategy.

Gate Cards: This card shows you, depending on the Bakugan’s attribute, how many G-points you gain or loose.  Each gate card adds a certain amount of G points to each Bakugan. Some gate cards have special attributes that affect the Bakugan differently, use this in your strategy

Character Cards: These cards give the name of the Bakugan that is on it. The G-points of your Bakugan will be doubled when it lands on a matching Character Card.

Each metal cards shows a G-power boost rating. This is shown on the left side of the card and the boost is then determined based on the color of your brawler that lands on the card. Each cards also has a HSO, which stands for “Holo Sector Point”.  This represents how many points you win if you capture this card!

Are you with me still? Hang on, it’s not at confusing as it seems. Next let’s take a look at The Battle Area.

The Bakugan Battle Area

There are some really cool accessories like the official tournament Bakugan Battle Arena and the Bakugan Battle Bowl for playing the game, but they are not necessary. Bakugan can be battled anywhere there is a flat surface. You start by putting a card face down on the side closest to your opponent, making a rectangle on the Battle starts the game. When there are only 2 players, each player is required to put another card down to form the Battle Field.

Next is something called the Shot Spot. Your shot spot for the entire game is determined by each of the players taking their remaining cards and measuring the distance from their opponents card which was placed closest to you. it is recommended that you stay at least 2 1/2 feet away from the card closest to you.

Guess what? Now its time to battle!!!! Choose which player will go first. Some have chosen to let the youngest player go first to make it easier. Each player then takes their turns from their shot spot. You cannot skip a players turn as long as they have a Bakugan in their hand.

Winning Bakugan

The game is over once there aren’t any more Bakugans left to play with OR all the cards are gone. A calculator comes in handy at this point because you need to add up the Holo Sector Points (HSP) for each card that was won. A player winning a Bakugan from their opponent is worth an extra 100 HSP. Another extra 100 HSP is given if they have any remaining Bakugan.

I hope this helped you get a general idea of what the Bakugan game is all about. We will be getting into many advanced strategies and tactics to make you a true Bakugan Master later on. Once you learn the special trick shots like the Spin Shot, you will have a full arsenal of strategies to deploy should the challenge be issued. As they say, ‘Practice makes perfect’. Battle on fellow Brawlers! But most importantly, HAVE FUN!!
