As part of our Bakugan strategy contest, we recently received this amazing entry from Francisco that we just had to share with you before our weekly update:

Pyrus Bakugan Strategies- By Francisco

Pyrus is all about getting the power you need when you need it, and is very good at getting into the fight it wants to be in.

The Pyrus Bakugan

Pyrus Bakugan come in lots of flavors, for gameplay though, most are just as good as others. There are a few exceptions of course as there are a few cards which give specific bonuses to specific Bakugan like Manion. If you've got the card and the Bakugan, than it's almost always a good idea to include them in your force. If you're playing the standard game and you're not planning anything extra tricky, just pick your 3 best Pyrus Bakugan to use.

The Gate Cards

For your Silver Gate card, look for a card that not only gives a great bonus for Pyrus, but that also doesn't give too high a bonus for anyone else. You might be tempted to use Tornado Alley as it gives a 170 G-Power bonus, but it also gives a big bonus to Ventus. You'd probably be better off with a card like Fire Pit which gives the best bonus to Pyrus while not offering as much to the other attributes.

For your Gold Gate card, you will likely want to include one that matches the shape of one of your Bakugan. Another great option would be a card like Forest Fire. This card gives a terrible bonus to Pyrus, so you'll probably lose this fight, but once it goes into your opponent's used pile, it'll give your other Pyrus Bakugan a G-Power bonus for the rest of the game! Just make sure that this is the first Gate card you play, and if you can, the first Gate card that you fight over, so that you get the maximum use of the bonus!

For your Copper Gate card, there are lots of good choices. The card Earth, Wind and Fire combos nicely with Forest Fire. You let your opponent with that first battle, then on this battle, you'll get a good bonus from the Gate Card along with an extra 100 G-Power as your opponent will have more Gate Cards, and ANOTHER extra 50 G-Power because of Forest Fire! It's also hard to ignore a card like Stand Off which not only gives a great Pyrus bonus, but also stops your opponent from being able to play any ability cards to catch-up. This is a card you want to put out late in the game if your opponent has been hording his ability cards instead of playing them in early battles.

The Ability Cards

For your Red Ability card, Dan's Throw is a good choice for any player who has a particular Ability card that they would rather use twice. This ability is often very good for Pyrus players. Magnetic Action is a great combo if you really want to be fighting over a particular Gate card first (like the above Earth, Wind and Fire). Also, if you aren't an expert roller yet, it's hard not to at least consider one of the cards that allows rerolling.

For your Blue Ability card, your choice is probably easy. The Blue cards are mostly about big G-Power bonuses, so using the biggest one you have is never a bad strategy. It's worth noting though that the G-Power bonuses on these cards go up as they are harder to play. For example, the 60 G-Power you get from G-Power Boost can be used in any battle, while the 110 G-Power you get from Ring of Fire can only be used on battles on your Gate cards, so be careful that you don't pick a card that you never use in a game! Personally, I like the cards that give big bonuses on my opponent's Gate cards, because I usually need the help in those battles.

For your Green Ability card, you've got a lot of great choices. Pyrus let's you eliminate the edge that your opponent might have with a big monster G-Power Bakugan. Playing this on one of your Gate cards is usually good for a won battle. But my absolute favorite trick card to use here is Help From Friends. If you're following the strategy that I've outlined in the Gate card section, this card is a near perfect combo with Earth, Wind and Fire. You know you'll probably lose the Earth, Wind and Fire battle, so go ahead and lose it, but then, using this card, it'll be like you won! And you'll still be getting the Earth, Wind and Fire bonus for the rest of the game! Now that's some tricky card play...

As you can see, a lot of thought can go into what cards you pick for your Pyrus force, or any force for that matter. But there are lots of clues on the cards that will help, and by far the best way to figure out what works for you is to just keep trying new things. You might lose while you try out new strategies, but that's OK, as every loss should give you some clue as to how you can improve your strategy!

Hey all you Brawlers out there, as you probably know, we have been having another Bakugan contest! We put the call out for you to email us with your best Bakugan strategies, and we have been recieving TONS of replies! Way to go guys, there's some truly awesome strategies we've received so far. Keep them coming, and remember, the winner will win Meta Altair (an Altair and Wired Bakugan combo). Take a look at this weeks entries into the Bakugan Strategy contest, and tell us what you think!

Bakugan Strategies

Subterra Strategy
by Oskar
Most subterra bakugan have high g powers, except when they hit a gate, like tricky gate or duck and win, the bakugan with the lowest G power wins, to neutralise the gate play Gus's powerblast at the start of the battle before rollling your subterra bakugan so the bakugan with the highest G power wins (really works with my 720G subterra Angelo).

Pyrus Strategy
by Dylan
Bakugan:
475g Neo Dragonoid (translucent)
590g Neo Dragonoid (translucent)
680g Helios

Gate Cards:
Overhang
Gate Of Fire
Glamour Gate

Ability Cards:
Rainbow Portal or Fire Wind
Colour Swap or Shadowfire
Brushfire

This strategy can be played in two ways, defensive or offensive.
If you are playing offensively, then choose Fire Wind and Shadowfire.

Choice of Bakugan:

You need a weak Bakugan for the Overhang gate card to work.
My 590g Neo Dragonoid can be changed; but it is good to have a mid powered Bakugan to be able to use Colour Swap.
A Spin Dragonoid is a good replacement for the Helios, because you will get an additional bonus from the Glamour Gate but just take note that your opponent may have a card like Prism Gate which will stop you from getting a bonus.

Use of Gate cards:

Bronze
Overhang allows the Bakugan with the lowest G-Power total to win. To ensure your opponent loses, Pyrus has no bonus, Darkus gains 50g, Aquos and Subterra gain 100g, Haos 150g and Ventus 200g.

Silver
Gate Of Fire gives Pyrus a 150g bonus, Aquos 0g, Subterra and Haos 90g, Ventus 100g and Darkus 120g.

Gold
Glamour Gate gives each owners Bakugan +30g for each special treatment they have. If you have two like me then you get an additional 60g bonus from this card. Pyrus gains 200g, Haos 10g, Subterra 90g, Darkus 100g, Aquos 110g and Ventus 180g

Where to stand your Bakugan:
Weakest G Power on Overhang gate card.
590g Neo Dragonoid on Gate of Fire.
Helios on Glamour Gate.
(You will need to make decisions based on the opponents Bakugan during the game)

Ability Cards Effects

Green
Colour Swap is an important card, if your opponent cancels the effect of overhang then in most cases Colour Swap will give you a big enough boost to win. Also if you end up landing on an opponent’s gate card and you have a bad power bonus then you can swap your colour with your opponent.

Shadowfire won’t help you defend your own gate cards. It will however almost ensure you win your opponent’s gate because it stops them from gaining their gate bonus.

Red
Rainbow Portal allows you to reroll any of your Pyrus, Darkus or Subterra Bakugan once per turn. So you can get the advantage of your opponent by moving your bakugan around so you have the advantage. The down fall of this card is that you can only use it whilst it is the only ability card in your used pile.

Fire Wind allows you to move any Bakugan around the field. You can use this to take out your opponents strongest Bakugan by moving it onto the Overhang gate card or moving a weaker Bakugan onto a gate where your stronger Bakugan is standing.

Blue/Gray
Brushfire is used in both offensive and defensive strategies because you will almost always need to start battles and not wait for your opponent to roll onto your gate cards. Brushfire gives a 140 Pyrus boost, meaning that you will almost always win.

Pyrus Strategy
by Joseph
Heres a good strategy for a pyrus bakugan: any pyrus bakugan+ magma feilds+ shutdown ability that matches opponets bakugan+ pyrus bakugan trap= mega powerfull combo for any pyrus bakugan

Ventus Strategy
by Hemowai
These are the gate cards you need for the following strategy
DUCK AND WIN,
BLURRED HEAT
AND
BLINDING GATE

These are the ability cards you need for the following strategy
VENTUS,
UPDRAFT
AND
DO OVER

Bakugan you need
ANY BAKUGANS THAT HAVE G's FROM 300 TO 550[VENTUS]

Darkus Strategy
by Brent
Darkus hades+hades gate card+(any launcher card)masquerades launcher(change to haos).

Darkus Strategy
by Eric
First set my Duck and Win gate card send in my Darkus Serpenoid (400g) then open Duck and Win. Total G power is only 540g

Next send my Ventus Fear Ripper(440g) on my opponents gate card then activate my ability card Ventus and switch his gate card with Duck and Win. Total G power is only 550g

Finally sacrifice my Ventus Fear Ripper and Darkus Serpenoid on my opponents gate cards. Then set my Catch Up gate card and roll my Aquos Limulis(660g) on to it. Then activate my Summon Wave ability card(+140); then open my gate card (+90+200). Total G power is 1090g.

Here is ventus strategy for all ventus brawlers.First if you have a gate of wind gate card.Next if you have any strong ventus bakugan then your fine.Last you need either a legends of wind ability card or a updraft ability. So 150+140or160=290or310G

Ventus Strategy
by MatthewLightningStorm

Here is ventus strategy for all ventus brawlers.First if you have a gate of wind gate card. Next if you have any strong ventus bakugan then your fine. Last you need either a legends of wind ability card or a updraft ability. So 150+140or160=290or310G

Bakugan Strategy
by Alex
The perfect straregy for any type of team is to get powerful bakugan and use their character gate cards so only your bakugan will get the gate card bonus and use ability cards that cancel your opponents abilities so they cant gain any g-power.

Pyrus Strategy
by Davis
1. Pyrus helios 680gs+ Lockdown gate+ Fire Shutdown= Helios at 1190gs

2. Any Darkus or Pyrus on opponents gate + ShadowFire or darkus or pyrus trap

3. Subterra Wormquake+ its character card+ Earth Shutdown= Wormquake at 970gs.

Darkus Strategy
by Darkus
Darkus neo drago 480g + dark tunnel = 700 g neo drago

Bakugan Strategies
by Noe
• Haos Delta dragonoid 650g + Mana surge = 900 g Delta Dragonoid
• Alpha Hydranoid 670g + High Ground = 820 g Alpha Hydranoid
• Aquos Pearl Falconer 580g + Whirlpool + Fire Shutdown = 880 g Aquos Pearl Falconer

1. Do 2 fake rolls, just missing the card so that your opponent thinks you did it by mistake. He will likely get two of his Bakugan onto the gate cards he wants.
2. Use the Pyrus ability card. This puts your opponents Bakugan G powers to 0 for a full turn.
3. Roll a real roll and crush his most powerful Bakugan in play!

Optional if you have the Zoack trap:

4. Next you might want to roll another Pyrus against your opponents next most powerful Bakugan.
5. Play the Zoack trap and switch your Pyrus to a Subterra!
6. Play one of your Earth ability cards like Earth Powered Boost to boost your Pyrus/Subterra up +300 G Power.
7. Just let them try and stop you now!

There's so many strategies out there, it's impossible to figure them all out! What's your favorite Pyrus strategy? I'll be sharing more as I have time.
